Well, it’s been a while since the last blog post so it’s high time we got back on track with the blogging. This week’s blog is about a photoshoot I did with a very special little girl named Phoebe.

I have recently become involved with (and am very proud to sponsor) a fantastic magazine called AUKIDS. My wife and I both have members of our family with Autism, so this is a subject very close to our hearts!
The next issue of Aukids Magazine celebrates their fifth birthday. Debby and Tori started the magazine in 2008 because they felt the need for lively, impartial advice for parents. At the time there were no other magazines written just for parents of kids on the spectrum. Debby had been a journalist before her twins were born – Tori is a highly specialist speech and language therapist. They met when Tori did some sessions with the twins (both of whom are Autistic).
3 out of 4 people with autism are male, so it was particularly nice to photograph Phoebe the wondergirl for this issues cover!

Here are a few photographs from a recent Wedding Photography Engagement shoot with Charlotte and Greg. Engagement Shoot Wedding Photography is always good fun, and I make a point of offering every couple that books me for their Wedding Photography a complimentary engagement shoot.
This is in part to get you used to being photographed before the big day, but it’s also a great opportunity to get to know me, your wedding photographer before your wedding day! (and you also get some rather nice portrait photography to use for wedding invitations, thank-you cards and even to get framed and put up on the wall!).
Usually, wedding photography engagement shoots are done in the photography studio, or a park (or somewhere of importance to the couple)… but ths time was a little different. Charlotte and Greg had some fantastic ideas about what they wanted from their photoshoot, and I’m pleased to present a few pics below which I really think have captured their characters. The photography was done mainly at home, with a few shots in the local park.
Congratulations to you both on your engagement – really looking forward to the big day!

Hi Dave, Just a quick note to say thanks for the family photographs taken before Christmas. These were sent as Christmas presents to parents and grandparents and everyone has commented on how relaxed we all looked!! David was photographer at our wedding back in March 2006. We feel incredibly lucky to now have hundreds of fantastic high-quality photographs to look back on. Every part of our day was well covered to a fabulous standard!

Here are a few photographs from a recent Commercial Photography shoot undertaken for IMA Trading in Stockport. Based on Stanley Green Trading Estate, near to Heald Geen and Cheadle in Stockport, IMA supply products to many Wedding venues and Wedding suppliers across the globe.
IMA asked me to come along to their premises and do an on-site commercial photography photoshoot for their website and ebay business.
I almost always find Product photography interesting – I like the challenge of working with a variety of products, and showing them at their best (after all, these photographs are their to help SELL the products in question!).

In this instance, products photographed in this commercial photoshoot were hampers, cameras, seat covers, table decorations and more. Usually the kinds of things I photograph when capturing wedding photography on somebody’s big day, so interesting to be taking photographs of these items at a more leisurely pace (and in an environment where I could control the lighting).
In this instance, at IMA’s request the photographs were provided in a square format as cut-outs (background removed).
Well, firstly a belated Happy New Year to all of you. I hope you had a fantastic time at Christmas and New Year and are now sufficiently full of Turkey / Nut Roast / Sprouts (*insert festive fodder here as appropriate!).
My First Christmas!
I had a great time with family and friends, and am now hastily making my New Years resolutions (few of which ever survive for long). This Christmas was especially special, as it was my daughter’s very first Christmas
Christmas and New Year were a busy time for me as it happens. Once more, I was undertaking commercial photography for Galaxy Optical in Cheshire. I don’t think I have ever seen so many pairs of spectacles in my life (in fact, for someone who does not wear spectacles, I now know an awful lot about them).
The year ahead looks promising with 13 wedding bookings already for this year! If you or a member of your family are getting wed this year, why not ask them to phone me for a chat. When it comes to wedding photography, I don’t believe in making clients choose between “packages”…. each wedding is customised to clients requirements, be it wedding photography on disk to full blown luxury Italian wedding albums such as Graphistudio.
My commercial photography client list continues to grow, too. New clients include schools, Egan Reid, a Fire Suppressant company, hampers, and even bakeries (so it’s not all specs, specs, specs!)
I’m also getting an increased number of bookings for Birthdays and special occasions such as Christening Photography, which is fantastic.

I wanted to join a number of my peers in producing an “image a day” as part of a photographic experiment, but realistically I have been far to busy, so I am going to endeavour to put at least one image a WEEK onto this blog. Much more realistic for me, so keep your eyes peeled, dear reader!

I was asked by Alex and Ekaterina to capture their big day, and although the sky was overcast, we got some fantastic images.
Wedding photography is one of the most challenging forms of photography, particularly when the weather is working against you (and too sunny can be almost as bad as too grey, believe me!) but having a fantastic venue like Gorton Monastery to work with certainly does help.
The staff were friendly and professional (some all Wedding Photographers can appreciate), and make the job so much easier.

Cheshire Wedding Photographer David Laslett is a talented Wedding, Portrait, Commercial and Event Photographer based in Stockport who covers the North of England and beyond.
I was recently asked by the nice folks at Amplify (an agency in London) to undertake a Commercial Photography shoot here in sunny Cheshire. It was part of a Campaign being run by Three to promote the use of Smartphones to busy Mums.
The commercial photography shoot took place at Busy Bees nursery in Cheadle and Olivers Restaurant in Handforth as part of Three’s On the Go campaign.
Denise is a mum herself and in person is lovely and very easy to get along with. She answered questions about her smartphone and how she uses it on a day to day basis.

The shoot went very well indeed and was much fun. The sun was shining and we got some fantastic photographs of Denise with the mums and the children. There was also a photographer present from the Manchester Evening News for part of the day.
It is always very interesting undertaking Commercial photography shoots like this, as my experience in both child portrait photography AND event photography can come in VERY handy
Commercial Photography in Stockport, Manchester – Dance Costume Photography
Well, it’s been another busy week in the studio here in sunny Manchester. I was asked by POSE FREESTYLE to undertake a commercial photography photoshoot in the studio in Chorlton, Manchester.

There were 9 freestyle dancers to photograph, with multiple costume changes.
One of the dancers that we were photographing in the studio was having a documentary made about her by SKY Television. Consequently the photoshoot was filmed, and is due to be broadcast on one of the SKY TV channels (details to follow).
The photoshoot was a great success and I’ve never seen such a talented group of little acrobats!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of mummy Caroline and baby Caitlin’s company for a half hour or so for a spontaneous mini photoshoot.
